Vestibular Vertigo Rehabilitation

Vestibular physiotherapy is an exercise based program designed to treat problems of the inner ear associated with poor balance, vertigo and dizziness.

Vestibular disorders are invisible, hard to diagnose and provoke dizziness, unsteadiness or trouble focusing with even the simplest of activities:  rolling over in bed, scrolling on a computer, looking back and forth between people in a conversation, going around a corner too fast, walking on soft ground, grocery shopping or being in a vehicle.

Vestibular problems can come “out of the blue” or can result from trauma (motor vehicle accidents, falls, contact sports, blow to the head) inner ear infections, aging, medications, brain related problems (strokes, decreased blood flow or migraines) or secondary to other diseases or injuries.

Vestibular rehabilitation therapy is an exercise based approach that trains the brain to compensate for abnormalities in the vestibular system so that the symptoms are reduced or eliminated.
